Dr.Weiss

Robert
A. Weiss, M.D.
received the Bachelor of Science
degree with distinction from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison and the M.D. degree from the Chicago
Medical School as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha
National Medical Honor Society. Dr. Weiss completed an
internship at Cook County Hospital and specialty
residency training in ophthalmology at Cornell
University Medical Center - New York Hospital. He
then pursued further sub
specialty training in Ophthalmic
Oncology
and Orbital Disease
at the New York Hospital and the world-renowned
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. To this
advanced training he added still another formal
fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgery at Emory University Medical Center in Atlanta.
Returning to New York Hospital - Cornell University
Medical Center as a full time faculty member Dr. Weiss
served as Assistant Director of the Ophthalmic Oncology
Center and Director of the Ophthalmology Residency
Program. He also held an appointment in the Department
of Surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and
at the Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens.
In addition, Dr. Weiss was a consulting specialist for
the New York State Athletic Commission.
Dr. Weiss' extraordinary skills have placed him in great
demand as a lecturer both across the nation and
internationally and have led to the publication of
dozens of articles and book chapters in the medical
literature. Dr. Weiss' ability as an educator was
recognized by the physicians-in-training at the
University of Illinois at Chicago who named him "Best
Teacher in Ophthalmology." Dr. Weiss has also
participated in numerous humanitarian medical missions
around the world. Dr. Weiss is a Diplomate of the
American Board of Ophthalmology, a Fellow of the
prestigious American College of Surgeons, a Fellow of
the American Society of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive
Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of
Ophthalmology. Dr. Weiss is a member of the faculty of
the University of Illinois School of Medicine where he
holds appointments as a clinical associate professor in
both the departments of ophthalmology and neurosurgery.
Dr. Weiss is Chief of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive
Surgery and Ophthalmic Oncology Services at Advocate
Illinois Masonic Medical Center and he is a partner of
the Chicago Eye Institute. |
